Na Casaidigh is one of the finest and best-known family bands in Ireland. Originally from Gweedore, Co. Donegal, the group of six brothers is noted for the variety of its material and remarkable harmonies. The group has toured throughout Europe and the United States.
Oró na Casaidigh- Irish Childhood Songs features songs which generations of Irish people have grown up with. However, Na Casaidigh have added a contemporary beat and mixed a few more instruments into the blend. In doing so, they have struck the right balance between the old and the new. This is clearly evident in the line-up of additional instruments Indian Sharuti, Egyptian drum, Spanish guitar and bassoon, among others. Na Casaidigh are joined by a host of musicians, including Paul Moran on drums, Steve Cooney and Peter Eades.
The songs are all well-known and loved by Irish people the world over. The album title is a reference to the three songs on the album which have ‘Óró’ in the chorus: Óró Bog Liom Í, Óró ’Sé do Bheatha ’bhaile and Óró mo Bháidín
The other songs on the album are:
